About
About Desktop Maple
A Perth advisory built around the practical work of connecting storefronts to the systems that move stock and money.
Why we exist
Australian merchants rarely fail because they lack another dashboard. They stall when the storefront, warehouse, and payment processor disagree about what an order is. Desktop Maple Development Advisory was formed in Perth to give those projects a clear programming consulting partner — someone who will draw the integration map before anyone writes another fragile sync job.
Origin
The practice grew out of repeated rescue work on e-commerce cutovers that looked complete in staging and collapsed under gift cards, partial shipments, or weekend traffic. We kept the parts that worked: blunt discovery questions, written acceptance criteria, and respect for the people who pick stock at 6 a.m.
How we work
- Concrete artefacts first — maps, checklists, and risk notes you can hand to a new developer
- Paired sessions over opaque deliveries — we prefer working alongside your team or agency
- Trading calendars matter — we schedule around peak seasons rather than through them
- Australia-aware constraints — carrier cut-offs, GST presentation, and local payment behaviours are part of the brief
People
Avery Lang — Principal Advisor
Leads discovery and acceptance design. Background in retail operations projects across Western Australia and Victoria, with a focus on order-state modelling and payment webhook discipline.
Julian Crowe — Integration Specialist
Works the interface inventory and paired build sessions. Comfortable reading both platform admin quirks and warehouse file formats that still travel over SFTP.
Relationship with clients
We are not a staff-augmentation mill and not a product vendor. Clients hire us for scoped programming consulting on e-commerce platform integration and customisation, then return to their day-to-day teams with a clearer system of record for how orders should behave.
